Welcome to 4x4 projects

Hello and welcome to 4x4 projects. This site is dedicated to show you how I have modified my 4x4's what has worked, and what has not. I will be able to help you make decisions on what products are worth what the manufacturer claims they are. I believe that we in the off-road community want the best from our machines, without spending our life savings to get there. We still need gas money to run the trails, and if we spent it all on modifications, then we have a pretty nice lookin' paper weight in the drive way.

On this site I will cover many different projects some large projects, some small projects. Projects that are full rebuilds and some projects that are just little modifications to make more horsepower or gas mileage.

At this moment in time I have two jeeps, one is my rock crawler, the other is my daily driver and family wheeler. As the site grows and becomes supported by the internet community. I will bring you different projects. My goal for this site is to bring different ideas and concepts to other vehicles. Vehicles ranging from Jeeps to full size Blazers, to even compact Suzuki's. So please keep checking in to see what I've got in the garage next, as this site is constantly under consturction.

Dana Axles

Dana axles, almost every car manufacturer uses a Dana axle in at least one or two of their models. Some of these axles are more desirable then others, so finding these little treasures, or rather big treasures, shouldn't be hard. Maybe you won't find one right away in the salvage yards, but keep visting and you'll find one.

Also don't put it past you to look at foreign vehicles too. Some foreign manufacturers use Dana axles in there vehicles also. Really look around and you'll find one.

Make sure you know what you're looking for and what vehicles they could be in. That should cut down on the amount of time to find the exact axle you're looking for. The good part about Dana axles is the differential covers are all differnet and unique. So study the pictures and you could get good enough to just glance at the cover and just know what axle you're looking at. So please read on, find out about the axles you have or the axles you want.

Headlight replacement

Hello and welcome to the first in the series of replacement parts articles. This artilce will cover the replacement of the headlights in my '97 Cherokee. I had to replace the headlights because I noticed the lights looking dim and people, at night, seemed to not see me. I also noticed when looking at my headlights the lights had a very nasty yellow tint to them. In a nutshell that's how you can tell when it's time to replace the headlights. Another sign is the brightness of your headlights. Another rule of thumb is to change your headlights about once every three years. Depending on the lights and the manufacturer it should tell you the life of the lights.

So now that you can tell about how to tell when it's time change the lights let's get into this small project.
