Welcome to 4x4 projects

Hello and welcome to 4x4 projects. This site is dedicated to show you how I have modified my 4x4's what has worked, and what has not. I will be able to help you make decisions on what products are worth what the manufacturer claims they are. I believe that we in the off-road community want the best from our machines, without spending our life savings to get there. We still need gas money to run the trails, and if we spent it all on modifications, then we have a pretty nice lookin' paper weight in the drive way.

On this site I will cover many different projects some large projects, some small projects. Projects that are full rebuilds and some projects that are just little modifications to make more horsepower or gas mileage.

At this moment in time I have two jeeps, one is my rock crawler, the other is my daily driver and family wheeler. As the site grows and becomes supported by the internet community. I will bring you different projects. My goal for this site is to bring different ideas and concepts to other vehicles. Vehicles ranging from Jeeps to full size Blazers, to even compact Suzuki's. So please keep checking in to see what I've got in the garage next, as this site is constantly under consturction.

The rebirth of the CJ

The CJ remained the same for years. It me to and from school and work, without giving me too much trouble in between. However with that being said, like everything in this world the CJ was starting to show its age. So I have decided to perform a frame off restoration and upgrade a few things that I have found to be annoying. So read on as I take you through the tear down and breathe new life into this tired Jeep.

4-speeds

If you're a crawler and like the low gears, then my friend welcome to the low geared transmission section. I know what some of you are thinking, because I had the same thoughts. "Why should I care about a 4 speed?" Well think about if you have super low gears in the axles, chances are you'll never shift into 5th gear. So that 5th gear you have is pretty much useless. Don't get me wrong 5 speeds are nice and all, especially with gas being as high as it's been. Shifting into that overdrive is a real gas saver. However a 4 speed can be just as good on gas, and I believe you'll see why.

So please read on and find out if you can find yourself a transmission that might suit your needs.
